Violinist and concertmaster of the Yokohama Sinfonietta, Satoki Nagaoka, performs with various orchestras (the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Kobe Chamber Ensemble) as guest concertmaster. He also performs on historical instruments, and has participated in the American tours of Bach Collegium Japan, Orchestra Libera Classica, Les Boreades, and others. He has also collaborated with famous Japanese artists in popular genres. He is also active as a composer, arranger, and choral conductor.
Mr. Nagaoka studied at the High School of the Tokyo University of the Arts, and continued to the College division, earning his Master's degree and Doctor's degree in Chamber Music. His studies into the chamber works of Schubert earned him the first Chamber Music Doctor's degree awarded by the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has studied with Tsuneo Iso, Takako Takahashi, Yasuko Otani, Natsumi Wakamatsu, Kiyoshi Okayama, Katsuya Matsubara and Walter Vorchert.
Mr. Nagaoka had his Tokyo debut recital in 2005, his Aomori debut in 2006, and has made several acclaimed recitals themed on the works of Schubert.
Currently, Mr. Nagaoka teaches as an adjunct instructor at the Tokyo University of the Arts.
